About Jonathon

Jonathon was born and raised in NE Wisconsin, and has resided in De Pere for the past 15 years. He earned a bachelor's degree in English and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2012, and worked in the retail industry to pay his way through college. He went on to earn a master’s degree from Marquette University in 2016, and also served as a writing instructor on campus during his time in graduate school.

He has served on the De Pere City Council representing District 2 (southeast De Pere) since April 2017. Jonathon also serves on the Board of Health, Board of Public Works, and Historic Preservation Commission. He was elected city council president and chair of the Historic Preservation Commission by his colleagues.

Throughout his professional career, Jonathon has sought to help people and improve his community. He has extensive experience in the financial services industry, including as a mortgage lender specializing in loan programs for low/moderate income and first-time homebuyers.

Ald. Hansen also volunteers on Definitely De Pere’s Design and Public Arts Committee, and is a member of the De Pere Historical Society and the Wisconsin Historical Society.
